Stephanie Capps is the owner and principal attorney of The Capps Law Firm. She founded the firm on the belief that clients want a lawyer who is personable and understanding yet aggressive and results oriented. Utilizing an agile staff with a dedication, focus and attention to detail, she and her colleagues are ready to present your position eloquently and firmly, and meet your legal needs on time and on budget.
Prior to starting her own firm, Stephanie worked for a business and commercial litigation firm in Chicago where she represented businesses and individuals in contract disputes and consumer fraud matters. She took lead in a state-wide class action against a chain of pet stores for consumer fraud in the sale of puppy mill puppies. As a result, she was asked to speak at the Chicago Bar Association, where she presented, “Animal Law and Class Actions.” Stephanie’s desire and passion to work with people also allowed her to successfully address cases involving issues of divorce and disputed custody matters. She remains able to approach your family law needs from the perspective of a business litigator.
In 2010, Stephanie received the Academic Achievement Award for her outstanding writing abilities in her article, "Establishing a Standard of Care for Companion Animals During Natural Disasters". Additionally, her article entitled, “Protecting Against Illicit Access to Implantable Medical Devices” is published in the Journal of Biolaw and Business.
